Who are these tours for?
These tours are for anyone who wants to experience urban exploration from the inside with an expert in the field. You don’t need to be particularly athletic. However, being in good shape can help you trek all day. They are not necessarily for photographers, although there is no problem if you are. I can even coach you on your equipment or your shots if you wish. These tours are not for urban explorers who would like to take advantage of my addresses.
What equipment should you bring?
You should dress as if you were hiking: clothes that are not afraid of anything and big shoes.
A raincoat in case of rain because you sometimes have to walk to access certain sites.
If you are a photographer, I recommend taking a tripod for sometimes dark rooms and several batteries and memory cards because you are going to have a great time.
A flashlight can be used, but if you have a cell phone that works as a flashlight, that will suffice.
What are the risks?
There are three main risks.
The first is running into people with bad intentions. This has never happened to me, being alone most of the time. So with a group of five…
The second risk is getting caught by a neighbor, a guard, the police… This has happened to me dozens of times. We can talk about it. We will only enter open places. No break-ins will be carried out, which I have never done myself. When you are caught in these conditions, it is easy to explain things. We are then simply escorted outside without further complications.
The third risk is the most important. It is the risk to physical integrity. Falling into a hole, going through a floor, etc… Each participant will sign a waiver. I will choose places where this risk is very limited or even non-existent. I will then brief the group very thoroughly on the specific risks and how to avoid them. Typical example: never take pictures and step back to widen the frame without looking back first.
What is not included?
The costs inherent to your trip to/from Paris: transport, visa, accommodation, meals…
Lunches and diners.
Insurance related to your trip or your equipment.
What are the payment and refund terms?
Half of the amount must be paid when booking. The other half must be paid no later than one month before departure. Reservations are non-refundable.
What types of places will be visited during the tours?
I will try to prepare an itinerary that offers the greatest possible diversity in terms of type of places. This could be castles, houses, factories, schools, churches, chapels, hotels, hospitals… Places have their own life. They are abandoned one day, can remain so for years, then from one day to the next can be barricaded before rehabilitation or before demolition. Or simply to stop visitors. For each trip, I will always plan more places than time will allow us to visit. Thus, in the event that we come across inaccessible places, we will not find ourselves having to return early. The sliders are not representative of the places visited in the areas in question. Some places shown may no longer be visitable, became too dangerous… In order not to reveal the areas of certain places, they may even be located in another zone.
